THAI JAI: A Modern Take on Thai Cuisine

We all probably have seen bits of fusion food before, but how about Thai fusion restaurants in Kuching? Look no further than Thai Jai, a place that have been creating Thai fusion dishes like you would have never think of!

The blend of both Thai and Western cuisines, courtesy of their chef, who has been all around European countries for nearly a decade, and the dedicated restaurant owner. Both of them came together to display their colourful take on how Thai fusion can form a strikingly bold and wonderful combination of flavours.

Thai Jai offers a wide variety of Thai fusion selections that will leave every customer spoil for choices! We have tried several of their signature dishes- so let’s break them down:

Salmon Butterfly Pea Fettuccine

Firstly, we tried the visually appealing Salmon Butterfly Pea Fettuccine. I don’t think you can find fettuccine that is blue, other than in this restaurant. The butterfly pea doesn’t only add the natural blue colouring but also a creamy texture that sticks to our taste buds. It goes well with the Norwegian Wild Salmon!

Panaeng Lamb Shank Cuts

Next, we have the Panaeng Lamb Shank Cuts. This dish offers lamb shank cuts served with zesty and creamy Panaeng curry dressing, which is a kind of red Thai curry- sweet and salty. Personally, it was my favourite dish I have tried so far in Thai Jai.

Green Curry Sirloin

We also had their Green Curry Sirloin. The sirloin is drenched in green curry which consists of green chillies, kaffir line and coriander sauce. It wasn’t as spicy as green curry deemed to be, but it was delightful to taste and aesthetically pleasing to look at – as you can see!

Mango Sticky Rice

For dessert, the owner recommended their Mango Sticky Rice. A dish that has the perfect combination of warm and cold from the rice and coconut ice cream respectively. It’s definitely something you should try!

Here are the other dishes we tasted that were equally pleasing to look at and to feast on as well!

Honourable mentions to the unique drinks served especially their Thai Exotic Tom Yum drink which had fresh chili in it!

It has a sour and spicy taste – YES, A SPICY DRINK!
