This Humble Eatery Serves Roti Sarang Burung in Miri! – Eusoff Murtabucks

“There is no sincerer love than the love of food.” Distance means nothing when it comes to good food! In this week’s review, we went all the way to Senadin, Miri, Sarawak to try the Roti Sarang Burung and cheesy tarik murtabak served at a humble eatery called Eusoff Murtabucks.

The Origin – Eusoff Murtabucks

Eusoff Murtabucks is owned by a true hustler, Siti Asmah, who took over her late father’s business when she was still in school! For her, continuing her father’s business was a way to make ends meet and also to honor his legacy. This restaurant started from a small, humble stall in Emart Tudan, Miri. Today, Eusoff Murtabucks is operating from both the stall in Emart Tudan, Miri, and their shop in Senadin Miri.

“I want to continue his legacy because I know I can go further. I want Eusoff Murtabucks to become well-known by others. I want to make a name for my late father because back when he was still alive, I wasn’t able to give him anything.”

Siti Asmah,2022

I can’t help but feel so touched by her words. Siti Asmah is truly an inspiration. One thing I also noticed was that all her workers were ladies! Talk about girl power, am I right? Most of her staff are friends who were there since the beginning of Eusoff Murtabucks. Alrighty, now that we got to know a little bit about the place and its people, let’s move right onto the most awaited part, the food!

Variety of Roti @ Eusoff Murtabucks

Eusoff Martabucks serves quite a few choices for the Roti Canai series and also their signature murtabak. We tried one best-seller from each category namely the Beef Cheesy Tarik Murtabucks and also their Roti Sarang Burung!

Roti Sarang Burung, a roti canai, but not as you know it. We’re talking about two sunny side-ups surrounded by the crispy, golden-brown flatbread, topped with sambal! Oof, sounds as good as it looks, right? This was my first time having Roti Sarang Burung, and I LOVED it! It’s so good that this is going to be my benchmark for this dish. Perfecto! Other than that, they also have some other usual roti canai!

Next, we had the Beef Cheesy Tarik Murtabucks. They also have chicken, lamb, and vegetable cheese murtabak, along with other classic murtabak. Basically a lot of choices for you to choose from! In terms of taste-wise, this Beef Cheesy Tarik Murtabucks was marvelous. Stuffed perfectly with the ingredients, and honestly leaves you wanting more!

Would you just look at that! This might sound cheesy, but I think this dish was grate!

The Bestselling Lunch Favorite Duos

White Rice Honey Chixken

We asked Asmah what their best-selling was for lunchtime, and she suggested the White Rice Honey Chixken from the Paha Ayam Series. The dish is pretty simple with rice, raw greens, red tomatoes, and also honey chicken with sambal. As simple as it looks, the taste was super flavorful.

I think in many cases, the sambal plays a crazy, important role. And boy oh boy, I tell you, I’m in love with their sambal. I love a good ol sambal that gives you the right balance of spiciness and sweetness. Now, I gotta warn you, the sambal is pretty spicy for those who can’t handle spicy food. Asmah said it’s totally adjustable because their sambal’s spiciness depends on the chili they use. Let them know if you can’t take their spiciness!

Nasi Lemak Telur Lipat Ayam

Here is another one of the local favorites for lunchtime, Nasi Lemak! We tried the Nasi Lemak Telur Lipat Ayam. Different from the usual serving of Nasi Lemak, this dish was served with omelet egg and flooded with the crazy, good sambal I mentioned earlier. Again, if you can’t really endure spicy food, let them know to put the sambal aside. They’re super friendly and have great customer service, which made them more likable!

Mee Jawa at Eusoff Murtabucks

Where are my Mee Jawa lovers at? Come one, come all! I, personally, like my Mee Jawa topped with crushed peanuts. The only thing missing for me was that, but other than that, it was the good ol Mee Jawa. The broth is not too thick, not too soupy as well, resulting in just the right amount of flavor. So, if this sounds like your bowl of mee jawa, head on down to Eusoff Murtabucks!

Well, that wraps up the food we tried at Eusoff Murtabucks. It’s definitely a great place to have breakfast and lunch. Although the destination is a great distance from town, it’s definitely worth the drive! Also, let us know what you think if you’ve tried them!
