Famous Food Stall Operating since 1963 at Sibu Central Market

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and I’m guessing my fellow friends are heading back to their hometown, Sibu for the festive season. Sibuians really do know how to light up their town with crazy fireworks and firecrackers like there’s no tomorrow. This is what truly defines Sibu’s Chinese New Year spirit!

Aside from that, Sibuians really do know where to get the best and tasty food their town has to offer. When you think about Sibu delicacies, one of the few things that comes to mind would be HOW CHEAP THE FOOD IS HERE! Sometimes it may be too good to be true.

This humble little food stall located at Sibu Central Market Food Court has been operating since 1963. That means, he has running his business for almost half a century. With all those years of experience, it is to no surprise on what he does best which is serving up some satisfying snacks for an afternoon tea.

The owner sells a small menu of items such as ABC Special, Bubur Buang Panas, Cendol, Rojak and also Wet Kompia, all at very affordable prices!

The stall owner keeps his ingredients simple and still uses the old-school way in preparing his food. Nothing too crazy to handle. Every plate or bowl of food he serves, is prepared with sincerity. He uses coconut milk in his concoction of both the ABC and Cendol, giving that rich and delicate flavour.

His rojak is very much welcomed by the locals because of his amazing tasting rojak paste, used to stir up a mixture of his fresh ingredients including crunchy cucumber, radish and some fruits. To top it all off, he adds some sprinkle of crushed nuts to give that extra texture and crunch.

The stall owner is also famous for selling Wet Kompia, whereby it is stuffed with slices of meat, drenched in a pot of braised sauce to allow the Kompia to absorb the flavours before plating them up.

In the earlier days, before the owner set up his stall here, he was previously located nearby St. Rita School along the roadside of Bukit Assek. Despite his relocation, his regular customers continued their support towards him until this very day.
