Hello foodies! We’re still high on Kuching food. So, this entry we bring you Kopicut, a place that serves coffee, haircut services and promoting culture. “Have a drink, get a haircut, and dine in” as they say. This is another perfect lepak spot in Kuching, Sarawak.

Located by the roadside in the hearts of Kuching, Sarawak, it’s pretty easy to spot them. BUT, just recently, they’re actually in the process of relocating to a new place which is the Borneo Street(opposite Hilton Kuching). Although they are moving, I believe they will still maintain their great vibes, good food and the Kopicut culture to their new place. I saw a sneak peak of the new place, it’s definitely more spacious! Without wasting any more time, let’s check out the food and drinks they have here.

The Famous Kopi Tak Tun Tuang at Kopicut

The name of the drink is derived from a famous song by Upiak Isil – Tak Tun Tuang. Now, you gotta be lying if you tell me you don’t know this song. “Aku belum mandi, tak tun tuang, tak tun tuang, tapi masih cantik juga~~” haaa gitu. The Kopi Tak Tun Tuang is served with coffee cube ice and frothed milk! It’s pretty simple yet so wholesome if you look at the process of making it. I tried them, and it’s delish! This is definitely not a basic way to enjoy your coffee. It makes me feel extra. For those who wants to enjoy this too, but don’t drink coffee, they have a tea variation too! I love that more of course.

Look at that coffee cubes! BTW, this drink is only served cold ya. If hot, it defeats the purpose lah kan?

Milo Meletop PERGHHH *with ice cream

Oof this one is something else! The Milo Meletop PERGHHH topped with chocolate ice cream. The amount of Milo they put in this drink, I tell you! It’s definitely yummy for Milo lovers, without a doubt. Just an advice, I think it’s a drink you can have like once in a while, cause it’s super sweet. The size of this drink is also HUGE!! You should definitely try it at least once. I challenge you, can you finish it?

Nasi Goreng Mak Tiri at Kopicut

I know, the name makes you “Wait what now?”. Cause I definitely had that moment when the waitress told me they have a dish called “Nasi Goreng Mak Tiri”. Now, what’s interesting about this dish is that, it uses more than 20 pieces of Chili. Also, they have different levels of spicyness for this nasi goreng and you can choose. We had the Level 4 spicy for this dish, and it was already enough to make me cough on my first bite. So, do you think you can take it? They said so far, their customers are only able to reach the Level 4. If you feel like you’re up for a challenge, try their Level 5! Don’t forget to share with us how that goes.

Nasi Goreng Corned Beef

Next, we have one of their best sellers here, the Nasi Goreng Corned Beef. Sometimes, it’s simple dishes like this that has the heart of the people. Although made with minimal ingredients, it’s super rich in flavor. If you feel like it’s too simple, you can always add on some Telor Mata or Telor Dadar.

Nasi Goreng Butter Chicken

Here’s another local favorites from Kopicut, the Nasi Goreng Butter Chicken. Did you know that Butter Chicken is originally a dish from India? On the other hand, butter chicken the Malaysian way is creamy, spicy and simply delicious. Although it’s creamy, it does not make me feel queasy. Some butter chicken dishes I’ve tried, I wasn’t able to finish it. I understand why the people love their butter chicken.

As I mentioned in the title, this cafe also has a barber in the shop. During our visit, the Barber was closed. But it’s a really nice concept where you can get your haircut and then enjoy food and drinks right after at the same place. Overall the food was good and the ambience is just nice for lepaking. Anyway, I hope their new place will still bring the concept, good food and culture too!
