Mr. Dakgalbi or Mr. Dak for short, differs from other restaurants that offers Korean food because it chooses to pan-grill its chicken under strong fire, which tenderizes the meat. Although dak and galbi means “chicken” and “ribs” respectively, the term dakgalbi does not refer to chicken ribs. Instead, Mr. Dak uses only chicken thighs for its menu.

Mr. Dak is famous for serving pan-grilled chicken marinated in spicy Korean sauce, which is called gochujang, along with cabbage, leek, rice cakes (Tteok), and potatoes, with a side of ramen and cheese. We ordered something from the main course set, Dakgalbi 2 Pax Set (2-3 pax) and opted for the Cheese Ring which was a mixture of quality cheddar and mozzarella.

Most people come to this restaurant to experience dakgalbi with the Cheese Ring. The SERIOUSLY INDULGING cheese ring is filled with lava-like melting cheese that will surely leave you craving for more. This cheesy experience was the highlight of the meal for me!

As the staff cooks in front of you, you get to witness the whole cooking process while sitting back and enjoy the show. Ramen is stir-fried in the center to absorb all the flavours. It’s looks awesome and smells amazing! Aside from chicken, Mr. Dak also offers Seafood Dakgalbi which consists of mussels, shrimp, squid and octopus.

Next, we had to try the crowd’s favourite which was their Fried Rice. Cheese was added which will be wrapped inside the fried rice for an incredible cheese pull. The fried rice was something I have never tasted before, gooey and absolutely delicious!
