With its contemporary library themed café, Chapter One has a stunning array of cakes.

Currently trending is their Medovik Layer Honey Cake, which has thin layers of cake that taste like a cross between honey and graham crackers, beautifully sandwiched between caramelized honey and whipped cream.

They also have other amazing cakes such as Snowcheese Butterscotch Cake, which features a light, fluffy and moist cheesecake perfectly married with Butterscotch flavor. The cake was coated with a generous amount of Parmesan Cheese.

The truly hipster name of this cafe definitely sets it apart from other cafes in Miri. With its cozy ambience and rustic interior, Moongrind Kingdom offers an awesome selection of cakes.

Their Chocolate Brownies are definitely worth the mention. What separates a good brownie from an amazing one is a cracked and flaky top while having a fudgy and chewy center. This was exactly how this café’s chocolate brownies tasted like!

3. Zeppelin | Cafe

Zeppelin is a great place to chill at as their spacious interior and industrial themed café are always pleasantly welcoming. Their desserts display also boasts a number of delicious cakes. One of their cakes that I tried was their Earl Grey Tea Cake.

The texture of the sponge cake was extremely soft and the cream layers had subtle hints of earl grey infused into it. If you’re an earl grey lover, then this cake is perfect for you as it had fragrant floral undertones with just the right amount of sweetness.

If you’re looking for something with a modern take on something traditional, then they also have a selection of batik cakes. The flavors are the Coffee Cheese Batik, which resembles Tiramisu and also their Choco Milo Batik, which is the flavor that we all love and are familiar with.

4. The Nest Café Lounge Cafe

The moment that you step into this café, the posh interior and European décor will definitely bring you back into the Twenties. To complement the pleasing aesthetic of the café, a delectable selection of cakes can also be enjoyed. One cake that I always keep coming back to eat is their Avocado Cheesecake.

The cheesecake was so smooth and velvety that a fork can slice through it so cleanly. Despite being made up of two heavy ingredients, which are avocado and cheese, it tasted delightfully lighter than your average cheesecake.

They also have many other great choices such as Almond Tiramisu, Mississippi Mud Cake, Green Tea Cheesecake, Passion Cheesecake and Peanut Chocolate.

5. JS Coffee Cakery | Cafe

Truly a hidden gem in Miri, JS Coffee Cakery actually has some of the best cheesecakes in town. My personal favorite was their HANGUS or Basque Burnt Cheesecake. What differentiates an average burnt cheesecake from an extraordinary one is always TEXTURE!

And yes, JS Cakery has hit the right notes with the cheesecake’s jiggly, creamy and almost lava-like texture. Each bite is so tender that it will simply melt in your mouth.

I just had to try their Thai Green Tea Crepe Cake. The cake was made up of green tea flavored crepes layered with soft whipping cream. For those who prefer a sweeter dash of flavor, a warm and thick Green Tea sauce is also provided for you to drizzle onto the cake.

Kopi @ 5 is a one-of-a-kind neighborhood café in Miri. With its interior full of wooden furniture and decorations, the café simply gives off a warm and homy ambience. This café offers a wide variety of homemade cakes you should definitely try.

My personal favorite was their Horlick Cheesecake. Who knew that the malty taste of Horlick and tangy cheese would make such a delicious combination! The texture of the cheesecake was very smooth and chocolate the cake base was extremely moist as the cake base was made by way of steaming instead of the conventional baking.

Another cafe famous for their crepe cakes is The Ruffles. The ambience here very much feels like a tea house, which makes this cafe the perfect place to have a good and classy tea time.

Its cake display also features a number of stunning cakes and desserts. Being an Earl Grey fan, I had to try their Earl Grey Crepe Cake. The crepe layers are nicely flavored with earl grey tea. Layered with soft whipped cream and topped with a fresh strawberry, this cake was just a refreshing delight that definitely paired well with their selection of teas.

The other crepe cake that I tried is their Tiramisu crepe cake. With a robust and strong caffeinated taste, these coffee flavored crepes are great for coffee lovers. The chocolate ganache on top gave it that extra sweetness and countered the bitterness of the coffee perfectly.

9. Little Roast Co. | Cafe

While this café specializes in Roasted Chicken, their selection of cakes should not be overlooked. One cake that you should try is their Cheddar Cheesecake. What makes this cake unique is that the parmesan cheese on top will be grilled to a crisp before being served.

The warm, soft sponge along with the hot melted cheese will definitely melt in your mouth. The crispy cheese top adds complexity to the texture and trust me, you won’t realize that you have finished your cake already!

They also have other great cakes such as Basque Burnt Cheesecake, Nutella Cake and many more.
