1. Kornia’s Recipe

A Muslim-friendly breakfast spot located at Marina Miri called Kornia’s Recipe is a place well-welcomed by both the locals and also Bruneian customers. This place is always packed with people during the mornings on weekends.

Mee Jawa Special and Mee Jawa Special Kambing are the most known dishes to get at Kornia’s Recipe. Customers are always coming back during Sundays for the Mee Jawa Kambing as it is only served during this particular day of the week. The gravy used in these two dishes are distinctively different in terms of their flavours. They also sell an assortment of kuihs which taste as good as their cooked dishes!

2. D’aroma Kafe

If you are somehow around the area of Saberkas Miri, or perhaps just finished your morning jog at Taman Bulatan Miri, D’aroma Kafe is a great place for some breakfast. There is a stall serving anything Roti from Roti Kosong to Roti Cheese Telur. Aside from that, they also have various Murtabak of choice like Sardin, Daging, Cornbeef or Tuna.

However, the stall is famous for their Roti Jantan Banjir which is basically, roti canai being topped off with 2 half-cooked fresh eggs and then being drenched with their marvellous tasting gravy. SO SAVOURY AND SATISFYING at the same time! And of course, a coin-sized sambal completes the dish. You are missing out on great things if you don’t give this a try!

It was pretty amazing seeing the Abang being so busy with his orders. He always sells out before 10.30 am so do come on down early to see what’s great about this dish.

3. Khan’s Taj Restaurant

Located nearby Petronas and Shell offices in Lutong Miri lies an eatery named Khan’s Taj Restaurant whereby you can find good food here! We recommend getting their flaky Roti Canai, Tandoori Chicken, Mee Goreng Mamak with sunny-side up egg and also their Garlic Cheese Naan!

Hands down! Their Mee Goreng Mamak with the sunny-side up egg is probably one of the best I have tasted in Miri so far. The noodles are just full of great flavours and it’s even better when you break the yolk into it! Oozy yolk running down through your noodles! Come on down and try it for yourself!

4. 3 Beradik Gemuk Kitchen

Thinking of a place that is open for BRUNCH? 3 Beradik Gemok Kitchen located at the heart of Miri, specifically at Miri Handicraft Centre, has got you covered. This family-run business serves food such as Mee Jawa Ayam, Laksa Kaki Ayam, Nasi Ayam Goreng Berempah and Nasi Ayam Kunyit Meletop, all at very affordable prices ranging from RM 5 to RM 7.

This place is famous for their Mee Kolok 4Rasa Dulang Daging Itam whereby it consists of Kolok Kicap Sos, Kolok Putih, Kolok Merah and Kolok Kicap. Each of the flavours has their own distinctive taste which was very palatable, nothing was too salty for my liking. My favourite for this dish would be the Daging Itam being crowned in the middle because it really rich with the sauce it is being cooked in.

Their signature drinks are Air Rasa Sarawak, Bandung Special and Teh C Special. You guys got to try these while you’re here!

Another great dish I tried was their Laksa Kaki Ayam. I have yet to encounter a place serving chicken feet in Laksa, surprisingly this place does it. This bowl of somewhat spicy (for me) Laksa tasted of quality broth, having great flavours including the taste of coconut milk. The delicate chicken feet was tender, pairing well with their blended chilli sauce served with limau.

A little eatery out of the city’s sight, located within Kampung Pengkalan Lutong Miri is Darngo Pengkalan Lutong. While dining your meal here, this place offers a spectacular view of Sungai Baong giving you that relaxing ambiance.

This place offers food such as Nasi Goreng, Mee Kolok, Mee Goreng Udang Galah and also Sup Tulang. We got ourselves their popular dishes such as Laksa, Mee Goreng and also Mee Jawa.

Their main highlight for us would be their CRAZY DELICIOUS Mee Jawa which has that perfect consistency of sweet potato gravy, being topped off with some generous amount of meat. The gravy was indeed full of flavours and delightful to the taste buds.

This place also serves up some superb tasting Nasi Lemak Ayam whereby their deep fried chicken taste amazingly good, which may even make your trip here worth it alone. Their ikan bilis is super crunchy and appetizing to munch together with the rice and sambal.

The legendary nasi lemak place located at the heart of Miri City named Nagaliar is to no surprise to be one of the local’s breakfast spot in Miri. We recommend getting their Nasi Lemak Special or perhaps the Nasi Kari Ayam, both at crazy reasonable prices! It is definitely worth your calories having this in the morning.

Their nasi lemak really brings back the nostalgic taste of a good old taste and as for their Nasi Kari Ayam, it has the hint of lemongrass aroma in it making it very strong in flavours.

The friendly uncle has been doing the Roti Canai for years and the taste is always consistent. This place is also great to lepak with your friends for an afternoon tea session, Roti Canai accompanied with Teh Tarik. FUHH! They have another branch located at Permyjaya area, located right next to Tusan.

Lalapan Ayam at Surabaya Restoran is personally one of my favourite in Miri. So far, I think their sambal is outstandingly great for its spicy kick and flavours. They prepare their sambal fresh everyday using the finest ingredients including tomatoes and bird’s eye chilies.

They have other branches as well, one located at Permyjaya sharing the same row as Nasi Lemak Singapore and their latest one located opposite Emart Tudan sharing the same building as TT Canteen.

Another eatery serving up some great food is Mee Sapi Kuching located nearby Boulevard Hypermarket Imperial Mall Miri. This place has a good menu selection including Laksa Kuching Special, Nasi Lalapan Ayam and also Nasi Lalapan Ikan Masin Terubuk.

We got ourselves their signature dish, which was named right after the shop, Mee Sapi Kuching. The dish was one really hearty and satisfying meal as we got a bowl of Mee Sapi filled with a generous amount of ingredients accompanied with a bowl of Sup Tulang. This dish was really full of flavours, from the pepper in the soup to the well-cooked meat parts.
